My father was a general contractor and I grew up on the job site and am no stranger to the business end of a hammer. I attended the University of Washington graduating with a degree in business administration.
While I had plenty of construction experience I needed additional training before I was ready to start inspecting houses. I completed the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) - Carson & Dunlop training program. This training course is the most comprehensive in the industry and the written material alone fills 11 volumes each about 400 pages long.
In 2005 I completed training to become FEMA contract disaster housing inspector and stand ready should a natural disaster strike the Pacific Northwest. To date I have not had to use these skills but I attend bi-annual trainings so I will be ready if called upon.
In 2010 I became an certified EPA instructor and now teach classes for contractors to receive their EPA Repair, Remodeling, & Painting (RRP) certification.
In addition to being a home inspector I am an active real estate investor. I own and manage a portfolio of rental properties and am also the managing partner of a small real estate development company. Our projects have included full remodels, subdivisions of single family lots and new construction.
